1987 Renault 5 Turbo Superproduction

£POA

In 1985 six brand new Renault 5 Turbo’s were taken from stock by Renault and used as the donor cars for the production class in the French Supertourisme Championship.

Some success was achieved and in 1986 Jean-Louis Bousquet was 4th in the Championship with two wins.

Renault was determined to win this home championship, late in 1986 three of the six cars were chosen and heavily modified.

Cages were done by Matter, and Sonica further developed the chassis, lowering and widening the track to the limit of the regulations.  The engines were built by Sodemo Motors, they slightly stroked with a small increase in cc to 1419cc but they used their own ECU, ignition, injection, custom inlet design, camshaft, and turbo upgrades produced 410hp at 3.2bar.

In 1987 Renault succeeded and Eric Comas won the Championship.  Renault confirms this is the car that Comas drove to claim the title in October 1987 at Pau-Amos.

Chassis 3-86 is the only one of the three cars built that remains outside of the Renault Museum at Paris Flins.

A very special opportunity to own the most extreme and developed variant of the Renault 5 Turbo.
